Posted July 26, 2023

Hello Kaiser Families,

I hope that you all are enjoying your summer. I just wanted to reach out and let you know that we will be doing in person registration on Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 10-6 or Friday, August 4, from  8-4 at Kaiser if you need any help with registration this year, We will have computers and support staff on site to assist you if you are having issues registering online.

If you are a current Kaiser family you only need to go into the Parent Portal and verify that you are returning.

Any family with an enrolled DPS student and a Parent Portal account can take part. However, only the primary parent or guardian registered in Infinite Campus can complete online registration.

Online registration is available during the “Early Bird” window May 8-19, and again starting July 30 until your individual school’s deadline. If your student is newly enrolled or currently enrolled in a DPS school, you can register your student online, or you can contact your school for additional options.

Online registration is completed by signing into Parent Portal. If you do not have a Parent Portal account, you can create one here.

After you sign in to Parent Portal, click on “See All Apps,” then click on “Online Registration” to complete the process. Online registration can only be completed by the parent/guardian listed in the primary household of the student record. Check with your school for its registration deadline.

  1. Navigate to Parent Portal and click on “Create an account.”
  2. Fill out the form on the next screen.  You will need the ID number of one of your students in order to create a Parent Portal account.
    1. If you do not know your student’s ID, go to studentidretrieval.dpsk12.org or contact your student’s current DPS school.
  3. Once the form is completed, click “Submit.” You will be prompted to select your username and password; click “Submit.”
  4. An activation email will be sent to the email used to create your account. Please click the link in the email in order to activate your account. Once completed, you will receive another email informing your account is now active (this may take up to 15 minutes).

If you are a K-5 new family you will need to go into the Parent Portal and fill out registration information.

Are you new to Denver? You can enroll and register directly in your neighborhood school. Locate your neighborhood school by typing in your address using School Finder, then contact the school for enrollment information. If you would like to enroll in a school other than your neighborhood school, please visit schoolchoice.dpsk12.org/enrollment to get started.

If you have a child that is 3 or 4 and will be attending ECE this year you will need to follow the steps below. We look forward to our new academic year and welcoming all our students back to Kaiser.

Kindly,

Mrs. Vasta

Here is the information for registering ECE sudents.

Dear Parent / Guardian,

January 3, 2023 DPS is partnering with the Colorado Department of Early Childhood (“CDEC”) to continue expanding its Early Childhood Education program to more students and families.

Preschool, also called Early Childhood Education, or ECE, helps young children develop cognitively, socially and emotionally. This strong foundation readies them to enter the elementary years successfully and continue their joy of learning.

The SchoolChoice process for ECE families will be much different than in previous years due to Colorado voters passing Proposition EE in 2020 which Governor Polis signed into law in April 2022. Under the new state program, Universal Preschool (UPK) Colorado, families will be following the CDEC’s new application and lottery process to match their child with quality voluntary preschool at more than 80 schools in DPS or through private providers.

There are a lot of unknowns, so families are encouraged to apply early to best navigate this new process. Please take the following steps to apply to a DPS ECE program:

ECE3:

1) Apply on the DPS SchoolChoice website at https://dps.schoolmint.net/. Select up to 12 programs to which you would like to apply.

2) Apply on the UPK website to see if you’re eligible for additional funding.

ECE4: 1) Apply on the DPS SchoolChoice website at https://dps.schoolmint.net/ between

You will not select schools here– your school choices will not be recorded unless you also complete the next step.

 2) Apply on the UPK website to select the schools to which you would like to apply. Please note, the new state implemented process will not have a waitlist for ECE4 applications unlike the DPS ECE lottery system. As a state entity we must comply with the new CDEC program, and follow the guidance provided at the state level. More information about the state’s inaugural Universal Preschool (UPK) Colorado program can be found on https://cdec.colorado.gov/colorado-universal-preschool.

We look forward to updating you as new details come in, and starting your child’s educational journey here at DPS. If you have questions during the new application process, please contact the CDEC at (800) 799 5876.

Kindly,

Mrs. Vasta
